Traffic Rush Project - Basic Lessons Complete!

I’ve developed a home study course on the usage of StumbleUpon to drive traffic to your website. This project is the account of my progress in developing and marketing that course. The course is now LIVE, is called Traffic Rush and you can enroll right now at http://www.traffic-rush.net/.
I’ve Reached the Half Way Mark
Since the last update I have been following my own advice and just working through the course one step at a time and I’m pleased to announce that the basic lessons are now all done! There are another 10 lessons to do for the advanced half of the course but I intend to pick up the pace a little now and have these done within the next few weeks.
The Launch Process
As well as developing the course content, I have also been working through the material in the Product Launch Formula course by Jeff Walker. I have now completed three modules and the teaching is getting right into the nitty-gritty of the launch process now.
It’s a shame that PLF wasn’t released a month earlier as it becomes apparent that the way in which I began the project may not have been very effective, at least in terms of ‘traditional launches’. I probably shouldn’t have announced the curriculum so early, as it would have been better to allow my readers to have more of an input into what they wanted to see in the course. Also, I’ve been far too up-front about the whole thing, apparently I’m supposed to be a lot more shady and be teasing you more :-)
Earlier this week I talked about the importance of applying what you learn in your own unique voice, and this was triggered by an area of PLF that I am not really enjoying. A large part of module 3 has walked us through a complete launch process and while that has been very interesting and has given me lots of ideas, a lot of attention has been on the specific copy used in the marketing emails. Jeff is a nice guy but I don’t like his writing style. 99% of what he writes makes me think “euw, I would never write that”.
I think this is a reason why so much of the Internet Marketing industry has a bad name. PLF was originally released back in 2005 (I think) and since then it has been used to launch hundreds of products including many big launches by big names in the industry. All these guys use Jeff’s techniques and I think the cheesy style of marketing rubs off. If you catch me writing cheesy copy then feel free to slap me around the head with a large slab of cheddar!
Traffic Rush Launching In July
This year’s Thirty Day Challenge kicks of officially in August and I want my schedule clear during that month. I certainly don’t want to wait until September so that pretty much forces me to launch some time in July. Leading up to the launch I am going to run a StumbleUpon Challenge which I’ll announce the details of in a later blog post so keep an eye out for that.
Distribution Technicalities
Now that I am nearing the launch I need to think more carefully about some of the technical details. There are going to be two methods of delivery. For those people who choose to buy the whole course I will send them a digitial download containing all of the articles and videos in a single package. So I need to find some kind of download manager to handle that. I have heard of a piece of software called DLGuard which I shall look into for that.
The trickier problem is handling those people who choose to sign up to the free lessons only. For these people they will be sent an auto-responder message once per week containing a link to the article online. I have two problems to solve here. Firstly, I want to password protect the page. For the moment I have put a static password on the pages but of course that is not secure as that could simply be passed along or posted online. Ideally I would like some kind of dynamic password system but I don’t even know if that exists.
Also there is the problem of delivering the videos. So far I have created almost a dozen videos to go with the basic lessons but I want to protect these so that they are only available to people who have enrolled in the course. So I have the security issue to deal with there. But also, I need to protect the bandwidth in some way. I want people to be able to access the videos but ideally just once so they can download them to their computer and watch them. I don’t want somebody to be able to stream the video over and over using up valuable bandwidth.
So, I have no clue where to start in terms of video hosting. If anybody has any expertise in this area I would be most grateful for your advice! If you own a video hosting service that meets my needs then feel free to post a link to it in the comments.
