Great timing on this post. I did a Squidoo page yesterday, and I needed more modules. I wanted to used related RSS feed, but there was no way that I knew of at the time to control what was in the feed. Now, I have the tool that I need to do it.

Interesting post. Thanks for offering this information. I am surprised that you did not mention Fwicki for RSS mashup. It’s much easier to use, a thousand times faster, and much more powerful. Fwicki not only gives you rss mashup, but the ability to create a customized reader page that performs very well in the search engines…

Not only do you get rss mashup… you get organic traffic referrals from high placement in the SERP’s.

After reading your blog for some time, I am surprised you didn’t know this..
As an avid rss geek, I have to admit I have a decided advantage when using Fwicki. It seems to be the best kept secret on the web. Compared to the power and performance of Fwicki, Yahoo Pipes is LAME!

Now Im not exactly sure how to use the RSS feed after I create it, Im
using some internet marketers custom pipes for creating unique content,
but after I create the RSS feeds what do I do with it, I have a blog Im just

@Jeff, no clue :-) But you should customise your 404 page if you haven’t already so that you can do something useful with that traffic.

@Alex, the end result isn’t an article at all. This has nothing to do with articles. It is a technique for merging one or more RSS feeds into a single one.

Hey Caroline, Annoyingly I still can't watch the video - apparently I don't have the quick time plugin installed and I'm having trouble d/loading it. Does the end result look anything close to a real article, in the eye of a human reader? Or is it good only for the bot? Caroline, I'm so glad to be able to contribute here. I have a domain I recently acquired that has had a mashup running on it for over a year. I've changed it over to my own hosting from where it was. It generates an unbelievable amount of 404s. My questions are this: how does Google index sites like this? Am I getting all of these 404s because Google has a year's worth of content that just got removed? Will Google ever figure it out? I'm talking 1200+ monthly 404s. @Jeff, you wouldn’t do this to post to a regular blog as this has it’s own feed. I don’t even think it is possible to add an additional feed to a proper blog. These feeds are used to populate sites that support the inclusion of an external feed such as Squidoo or Hubpages. There might be other uses though – it would be interesting to hear how other people have put them to use.

Caroline, Excellent video. I haven't done much with RSS feeds on my site mainly because I didn't want them to look spammy because I didn't know what I was doing.
