Google Analytics Ebook – A Free Download

December 4, 2007 Posted under: Making Money Online by Caroline Middlebrook

Althaf Ahmed of Blogrepreneur.com has written a free Google Analytics ebook and asked me to review it. I was happy to do this as I use Analytics on this blog and my niche site and any other site I create and yet I am just scratching the surface of the functionality it offers.

Inside the Google Analytics Book

It comes in at 35 pages though I think it could actually have been shorter as the first 10 pages are just introductory material and instructions on how to sign-up which are probably unnecessary.

There is some good coverage of Wordpress plugins that support Analytics but unfortunately no links were included.

Despite a little padding near the beginning of the book, later on Althaf goes into detail on some solid topics such as:

  • Use of the traffic estimator
  • Bounce Rate
  • Linking Google Analytics with Google Adwords
  • Optimizing PPC Advertising
  • Geo Targetting
  • Optimizing your Affiliate Marketing campains

Style & Layout

For such a technical subject I personally would have preferred a few more screenshots. The book is well written and comprehensive but it is perhaps a little too dense. It’s one of those books you kind of have to print out and have next to your computer as you work through it.

One positive point I would like to end with is that the ebook is completely free and as far as I can tell there are no promotions or affiliate links of any kind – this is pure free information which is rare these days.

I always have problems understanding the stats in Google Analytics. I guess this will be a great guide for me. Moreover, it is absolutely FREE!

You know, Jay Conrad Levinson the author of Guerrilla Marketing once mentioned that giving away as much as you can for free only helps your brand. He said that if anyone was ever inclined to purchase something, they would prefer someone who gives away free stuff all the time because it may be the cheapest, and then again they may offer more than anyone else. Also it takes a lot of guts to give away free stuff for a living.

I think it is big of Althaf to give away his writing and hard work. It is also just as big of you to turn around and help him.

Thanks for the ebook!
