Setting up Adsense on a WordPress site on which you are using an AdSense-ready theme is extremely simple. In this video I show you exactly how to do that for both the niche AdSense themes and the ProSense theme. However, just about AdSense-ready theme should use a similar method.

I bought Mark Mason’s WP pack …. no plain header included, no cigar themed header included either.

Just a point to note … the pack cost $32.67 …. not the advertised $27 …. there was an extra $5.67 added for VAT even though I’m not a resident of the US. I feel a little cheated.

Hey Paddy — email me and I will be happy to send you the extra themes. I am working on a new version 2.0, which will be free for all existing users. That version includes the cigar theme and the blanks.

Also, the new version in all themes in one, and adsense is configured without editing a text file right in the admin interface.

Sorry for the confusion.

As for the VAT - I agree taxes suck!

Hi Caroline
Thanks for a great video, another one! Explained a few things I needed to know about adsense, although I have never been much of a fan of it. but I do like it in the sense that it provides my readers with other relevant places to go, after reading my articles “-)

You are really moving fast forward and being incredibly productive recently. I am so happy for you, that you are this busy and productive and actually getting things done! Perhaps its a sign that you are moving ahead in life after the recent disasters.

Your change in feeling/attitude perhaps(?) is certainly reflected in your work. Videos, blog posts, new blogs and the 30Day Challenge, plus more ?

I don’t know how you are managing it. Am sorry we couldn’t catchup yesterday, but will try again :-)

Looking forward to more of the videos. This is really helping me in areas I am fearful of, and I really need to setup my first self-hosted wp blog! my current ‘hobby’ blogs are just sitting there for the moment, as I don’t feel like posting or promoting them, until I have moved over to wp!

Talk soon and congrats! “-)

@Mark, thanks for clearing that up - I would have just asked Paddy to contact you but you beat me to it :)

@Megan, don’t forget that I do this full-time and with recent changes in circumstances, full time really does mean full-time! I have no family commitments anymore, no drains on my time so I can work as much as I want and right now, that’s quite a lot.

With regards to AdSense, two things to note - firstly, it’s dead easy to setup, a total no-brainer. Secondly, once you have a site that is getting traffic then you can test the AdSense against something else and if you find something better then just ditch the AdSense! These themes are setup to make it easy to put it in there but with WordPress you can change anything in seconds - just switch to a non-AdSense theme and you’re set to use any other monetization method you want.

Good information. Always learn something from these videos!

I set up an adsense section on my site after reading through your e-book. I am using the WP theme “iTheme” from NDesign Studios http://www.ndesign-studio.com/. The theme utilizes AJAX so the reader can move the sections around and provide some flexibility in the end user experience.

The theme does not have adsense specific coding, but it is real easy to place the adsense code in the sidebar to create individual boxes.

I do like Mark’s themes in that you can provide more adsense content in different part of the site. Seems to be easier to manage if you have multiple adsense channels.

Sounds like you are enjoying your work too :-)

And thanks for that info re: Adsense Caroline. Yes, is easy to setup on site, but I have had lots of problems with setting up my actual adsense account, esp. with things they often don’t mention in the ebooks, like tax! And being a non-US resident, we have to fill out a tax exempt form.

Other problem is - when I set account up ages ago, didn’t really know what I was doing and lost login info. Found it again, but its using an old, non-existent email address and adsense wont let me change it (or its very hard to do), nor will they let people create a new account (can only have 1 acct).. so I have to follow this up as well!

But will manage it :)

@Patrick, yeah AdSense is easy to add in general if you know where to put things in your theme.

@Megan, I don’t remember having to do anything with tax and I’m a non-US resident too. But I might have done, it was a long time ago hehe.

Hi Caroline
Im not sure if this is the time or place but since you have experience in setting up the niche sites I have a question. I am using an adsense ready theme by Dosh Dosh. I went to the appropriate php files and changed his pub numbers to mine. I didn’t seem to be getting any hits on my site so I checked the php files and my number is there but when I called up the source code in notepad it still showed his. Could this be the problem? Of course it is so hard to get an answer from the developer. The site is http://www.wvtaxsales.com

@Dan, no this isn’t the place. You’d need to ask DoshDosh about this. I’m not offering support for somebody else’s product :)
