Developing Money Making Niche Sites With WordPress 2.6: Video 4 - AdSense-Ready Themes

August 6, 2008 Posted under: Blogging by Caroline Middlebrook

wp ebookThis is part #4 of a series of 10 videos. Click here to access the full series. The PDF download of the original ebook is also still available.

In this video I show you how to install some AdSense-ready themes onto your niche site.

There are two themes mentioned. The first is actually a collection of niche AdSense themes designed by Mark Mason that are designed especially for AdSense based niche sites (as opposed to standard blog themes). These themes cost $27 for the whole pack.

The second theme demonstrated is ProSense which is free and was featured in the original ebook.

Great video. I’m not a big fan of WordPress for various reasons, but you lay it out there very well, and make it easy for anybody. Cheers

It’s SO hard to find a clean theme for a niche Wordpress site.

Thanks for the source!

Caroline,

I went to copy the link to your video series to some folks that might be able to use your ebook/videos, and I realized that videos 3 & 4 have an invalid link to your main page.

The actual link is: http://www.caroline-middlebrook.com/blog/niche-sites-wp/

The links on this video and on video 3 don’t have the /blog/ directory in them. (Just an FYI)

Wow, Caroline. Thanks for featuring my themes. I really appreciate it. I was really enjoying your videos prior to the plug, but I really like them now. :)

Seriously, I spent a lot of time working with a couple of well-known AdSense guys that know about AdSense click-though rates and placement. The themes are designed to maximize clicks — that is the reason for the clean look.

Have a great day! Cannot wait for the next post/video.

@Blaine, where is this invalid link?

@Mark, well I’m going to building one very soon and I’ll be using one of your themes to do it. Its also easy to split test themes - once it starts getting traffic I can just switch themes for a while and compare the revenue / clickthroughs and so on between themes.

@Caroline: You are in luck — version 2.0 is coming out next week. In that version there is only one “theme” to load.

In the admin panel, there are menu options that allow you to change the header/footer graphics and AdSense ID. I am working on adding additional graphics to the current 12 choices and some other features as well.

Of course, anyone that purchases the current themes at the current price will get the above upgrade and all future upgrades at no charge. As mentioned in the sales letter, the price will eventually go back to $47. I expect this will happen at the end of this month (August 31), but I that will depend on when I stop adding features.

If you or any of your readers have suggestions for additional features, I am all ears.

Thanks again,
Mark

@Mark, ooh cool features! That sounds really good - it took me ages to upload all the themes in your pack lol!

@Caroline - It looks like you found the bad links, they were right up at the top of the articles.

Hi Caroline,
Fellow Brit here. I just wanted to say that I created my very first website using your ebook. I had a couple of problems due to being a complete newbie to the whole world of “t’internet” but plodded onwards and got my site up and running. It is not the best content in the world but it was very good exercise especially now that I am doing the 30 day challenge.

Good luck with your further endeavors.

@Tiptopcat, well done on making your first site! Many people just read but never actually take action. Don’t worry too much about how good it is - first attempts are not usually the most successful but it gets so much easier after you’ve done it once!
