Blogs that I Like

Courtney Tuttle

I have to admit, when I first saw this blog, I assumed Courtney was a girl, but no, he’s a guy :D Anyway Court has been around providing solid information for quite a long while now. He has some good information for beginners to his site such as How to Start a Blog and Link Building Tips.

His posts are a mixture of educational material such as 10 Ways to Make Yourself Look Like a Blogging Newbie and on-topic opinions on industry news such as Why Google Refunded my PageRank slap. It’s obvious from his writing that Court is on top of his game.

Cool Links Around the Blogosphere

[1] How to Find a Domain Name that Contains Keywords with Existing Traffic - Many searches type their keywords into the address bar instead of the search bar by mistake. This is ‘type-in traffic’. If your domain is the name of a key phrase that gets typed in, Google is likely to resolve the query to that address. Hence, registering domains with such keywords can get you some easy traffic. In this video post Mark from 45n5 shows a very cunning trick for finding a ton of them.

[2] Wordpress Post Slug: Use it Efficiently - If you use Wordpress then you need to read this post from Daily Blog Tips. A simple but useful trick for making your url’s a little more search engine friendly.

[3] Making Money with No Money - This post from UberAffiliate goes into some strategies for making money online by using eBay. It’s not for everyone but this is a comprehensive hands-on post full of ideas.

[4] How to Create and Market an Ebook Report - Many people think I should have sold my Twitter Guide rather than providing it for free on the blog. Well that’s my decision :-) But if I was going to create a report to sell, I would certainly absorb every word written by Josh Spaulding in this post. He also went into detail answering my questions in the comments too. Thanks Josh!

[5] How to Build an Email List Easily Using Article Marketing - I seem to be linking to Sean from WarriorBlog almost every week! That’s because he consistently puts out posts that provides you information that can bring results, and not just hype or fluff! This post does just what t says on the tin (British humor, sorry).

[6] The Secret to Building a Popular Blog - I’m not sure if ’secret’ is the word I would use to describe the in-depth, practical advice that Maki offers for getting loads of readers to your blog. A must read, as always and he even mentioned me so that makes it extra good :p

[7] Finding Your Niche - it’s not often I link to SEO blogs like SEOmoz but this post isn’t so much about SEO, as finding that sweet spot that can take you to a place where work no longer feels like work.

[8] 11 Tips for Getting Your Comments Noticed on a Popular Blog - My own Blog Commenting Strategy proved quite popular but it was all about where and when to post. This offering by Darren of ProBlogger is an excellent complement to it as he talks about exactly what to say.

[9] A Twitter Presentation - Dave Lee King has put together two screencasts all about Twitter.

[10] A Quick Jaunt Into Data Mining on Twitter - More Twitter goodness from Sam Freedom. This is part one and there is also a second post which covers Further Exploitation via Data Mining.

These are some really good posts, especially mine :) just kidding. I’m still amazed as to how quickly you’ve grown this blog. I still haven’t went through your Twitter guide, but I’m going to dig into it and start diving into social media as you’ve been doing.

I have to admit Caroline, I do pretty well online, but I believe you’re going to surpass me very shortly. You’re blog has already left me eating dust.

I believe I found your blog a few months ago and I think the rankings (RSS, PR, Alexa etc.) were dramatically lower than they are today.

If you ever do decide to create an Ebook or report, I highly suggest you do it on blogging!! I don’t remember the last blog that I’ve see grow like this one!

Hi, Caroline,
I just found your blog from the interview you did on stevenaitchison.co.uk! I just wanted to come over to wish you luck.

I left my job in October to give blogging for a living a go as well. So far, so good. I’ve another few months before I run out of money anyway!

Wishing you the best of luck and I’ll be back to see how you’re getting on.

Court had always been mistaken for the wrong gender, it might be the reason to how “he” can attract his visitors, but of course it was his pillar post which took him to fame.

@Josh, lol trouble is Josh, I really have no idea how I would replicate the process :) My other blog has 0 subscribers, not that I’ve tried to do anything with it…

@Court, np, but you might want to stick a picture of yourself on your blog so people don’t think you’re female :D

@Steven, Cool, excellent to find somebody else doing something similar!

@Warrior, np, you know I’m your biggest fan :p

Caroline, this is my first comment on your blog which I’ve recently discovered. You’ve done a nice job here. I found your blog while I was reading Yaro’s blog post about your commenting strategies.

Thanks for the links.

Thanks Caroline,

The ebook article and the one on getting comments noticed look excellent. Not that the others may not be excellent too - its just that these two were exactly what I was after.

This is a great collection of links, thanks for sharing them! :)

By the way - when I first came across Courtney, I thought he was a girl too. Haha. But he does have a fantastic blog, I agree with you on that one.
