Caroline’s Favourite Links #8
For the first time in over two months I have managed to keep up to date with a few of my favourite blogs! It’s about time, I had missed reading blogs and it made me feel out of touch with the blogosphere. I still have many more to read so I’ve just got a handful of links for this week:
5 Quick, Easy and Effective SEO Tips for Bloggers – Ugh SEO, not one of my strong points! Patrick of BlogStorm comes to the rescue with a few tips.
Building Authority with Blogrolls / Sitewide Link Exchanges – Link building is considered to be one of the most important factors in moving up the search engine rankings. A lot is said of deep linking but this post from Courtney Tuttle shows us that sidewide links should not be overlooked.
9 Ways to Guage Your Visitors Experience – One of the most important things we can do as webmasters is to try and evaluate the visitor experience in order to improve it. Vandelay Design gives us 9 ways to guage how good it really is.
Top 5 Tips For Success in a Crowded Niche – It’s nice when you can find a hungry market in a relatively non-competitive niche but it doesn’t happen often. If you find yourself in a crowded niche then take heed of these tips from Skellie.
Understanding Affiliate Marketing From the Perspective of a Blogger – The trickles of income that I have started to see recently have come almost exclusively from affiliate products sold via this blog so I found this post by Yaro Starak to be very useful even if I didn’t agree with all of it :-)
A Reality Check About Blogging For Money – Recently I warned against being overly influenced by the lure of making big bucks online and this post by ProBlogger has a similar theme to it.

Good links. I like link lists that are short and don’t overkill with too many links. 5-6 links is a good number.
Hi Caroline,
I am following you on Twitter and noted your desire to find a specific podcast. I have used EVERYZING. I got a free account and it reads your podcast feed and translates the audio spoken word to text and then searches it. In my experience, it isn’t perfect, but it does pretty good. Let me know what you think.

How glad I am that Darren Rowse is in the blogosphere.
Imagine someone having the humility to say that he was lucky! This is very definitely refreshing. A great article for a reality check.
@Bill, that’s cool I had no idea there was anything like that. Somebody once asked me to provide transcripts with my podcasts for those with impaired hearing but I didn’t have a mechanism to do that. I’ll check that out, thank you.
@Evan, Yeah Darren is a good guy, not arrogant at all and not afraid to tell it how it is. He’s very successful but doesn’t try to fool his readers into thinking its easy to replicate.
Great list. Two of these I had already read, so I figured the other four were probably also great links…I was right. I would strongly recommend any new blogger wanting to make money blogging should read the Reality Check link on your list (last one). It is an honest post from someone who knows.
Thanks for the list Caroline :)
Any reading you do must be some good valued content :P

Thanks for the great list – I always love what you recommend.
