March 24, 2008 Posted under: Miscellaneous by Caroline Middlebrook

I hope you’ve all had a nice Easter break, and don’t forget if you want a chance to win my StumbleUpon course the Easter Egg Hunt is still open until tomorrow. Lots of juicy links for you this week:

Sometimes You Have to Reinvent the Wheel - Yaro Starak talks about the process of taking somebody else’s system and trying to replicate what they do in order to enjoy the same level of success. This is the basis for many products in the Internet Marketing niche and yet it’s not as simple as that otherwise everybody who bought such a product would be rich right? Yaro examines the reasons why people fail despite following a proven system and offers up some solutions.

Only the First Anchor Text Counts - Internal linking using anchor text is a way of boosting rankings for your own pages. This post from SEOMoz shows the results of some Google experimentation when there are multiple links to the same url on one page.

How to Increase PageRank and Keyword Authority - Courtney Tuttle is proving to be quite an SEO expert. In this post he explains the difference between PR and keyword authority and shows how to boost them to increase search engine rankings.

Adding Sidebars to WordPress Themes - This is part of a new weekly series about WordPress on Blogging Experiment. This technical post demonstrates how to add sidebars to a WordPress theme.

The Aweber Guide for Affiliate Marketers - This is a very long and in-depth post from Uber Affiliate showing how to use the autoresponder software Aweber in your affiliate marketing campaigns. I’ll be re-visiting this post once I get my email course up and running.

8 Types of RSS Subscribers Explained, Part 1 - Not all RSS subscribers are the same and in this post Wayne Liew shows us the various reasons that people subscribe and how that affects their value to the blogger.

The Triangle Strategy - How to Optimize Efficiently - This confusingly titled post from Patrick of Piggy Bank Pie is actually a very neat way to focus your efforts with Social Media.

How to Breathe Life Back Into Your Blog - Dee Stewart guest posting at ProBlogger offers some advice for bloggers who may be thinking about quitting their blogging efforts. In particular she shows how to get a lot of inspiration by reading back through old blog comments.

Unfortunately, I ate enough chocolate eggs to deter me from looking for more eggs, be they chocolate or digital. :)

Great roll-up, Caroline. I particularly liked the Triangle Strategy post and the RSS post. I’ve not stated it before, but I love your theme design here. I’m using elements of it for my upcoming blog redesign.

Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the Courtney Tuttle link. That makes me think about your niche site project. Have you had any success getting residual income there? I remember the project, but I don’t remember an update lately. Given the information in Josh’s latest eBook, do you have any more plans for niche site generation?

Thanks for the link love, Caroline.

Your contest will surely lower the bounce rate of your blog and at the meantime, show off more of your old contents to your readers, both new and old.

Good luck and job well done. ;-)

Hi Caroline
Yaro’s post is excellent. I came across a blog the other day which started with “I’m seeing if I can make money online…” and ended about a month later with “this isn’t working…”! It takes a lot more sustained effort than that! I think Yaro was very brave putting up that post considering he runs a course but it’s good to make people sit back and think about what they really want to achieve and how that might be possible.

Caroline,

I especially liked the (4 of) 8 types of subscribers. After reading it, I’m stuck as to what the next four might be… I felt like he got everybody in Pt. 1!

Regards,

Kelly
