Caroline’s Favourite Links #10
I’m typing out this post on my brand new laptop! It’s a PC (yes I despise Macs!) running Windows Vista and annoying me with questions every five minutes asking me if I really did want to run that program - yes I bloody did or I wouldn’t have clicked on it would I? *sigh*, other than that annoyance, it’s rather lovely.
This Week’s Links
Why You Should Use WordPress - this is not a standard post but a video tutorial provided by Yaro Starak on his new website, Become a Blogger. This is the first in a series of video tutorials aimed at the complete beginner. I’ll be talking more about Yaro’s new site in the near future.
How to Make Money With Facebook - I found out yesterday that one of my ex’s who is now into Internet Marketing rakes in $2000 a DAY from a Facebook application! I’d probably be living the high life by now if we had stayed together! Anyway… back to reality for the rest of us - this is part 2 of a 5 part series on making money with Facebook from Shane Higginbottom. Whilst at his site, be sure to download his free ebook all about RSS and Feedburner.
The Death of Clickbank - I’ve not had much success with ClickBank yet and maybe that’s just as well because Josh Spaulding seems to think that their model is seriously flawed for affiliate marketers.
A Secret to Finding New Subscribers For Your Blog - Darren Rowse lets us in on what he thinks is the secret to getting new subscribers (not just traffic) for your blog. This post actually kicks off a whole series of posts that he made during the week.
Why is Dr Mani Crying? - Dr Mani is currently trying to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Defects with a Day For Hearts on the 14th February (Valentine’s Day). After a tireless campaign he feels like he could cry - read his article to find out why.
How Do I Capture the Click, Lead or Sale? - Garry Conn runs a lot of small blogs and makes a lot of money from them. In this article he reveals a simple formula for getting his visitors to take the desired action whether that’s clicking an AdSense ad, making a purchase and so on.
A Niche Site CaseStudy - One of my readers, Mark from Mason World has done something that many people do not do - he has gone beyond just reading and taken some action. After reading my book about building niche sites with WordPress he’s decided to try out the process for himself and blog about the process. This is the first article in the series and at the time of writing he already has 5 posts written.
How I Overcame Home at Home Information Overload - I found this post from Lexi, one of my readers from my CommentLuv plugin. She talks about the information overload that comes from working at home and how she dealt with it to be more productive.
Win a Copy of a Premium WordPress Theme - A content is being run on The Success Space blog to give away a copy of the premium theme, Revolution which is a rather slick ‘magazine style’ theme. The contest ends on February 15th.
Should Contests Run Your Blog? - I think the link above is the first time I have mentioned a contest on this blog, and I have never run one myself. Mike Huang from Blogging Ads asks us if contests are taking over the blogosphere and offers some practical advice for those wishing to run one.
