Announcing the Traffic Rush Launch Date & Price

July 3, 2008 Posted under: Making Money Online by Caroline Middlebrook

traffic rush

I’ve developed a home study course on the usage of StumbleUpon to drive traffic to your website. This project is the account of my progress in developing and marketing that course. The course is now LIVE, is called Traffic Rush and you can enroll right now at http://www.traffic-rush.net/.

After many months of work, the time has finally come to launch Traffic Rush! I’m getting very excited now :-) I’ve decided on next Thursday 10th July as the launch date. In today’s post I want to answer some of the questions that you may have.

What Does the Course Involve?

The primary aim of Traffic Rush is to teach you in a step-by-step manner how to use StumbleUpon to drive lots of traffic to your website. One caveat – there’s work involved! There are no tricks, no secrets, no underground programs, no dodgy little hacks, no exclusive membership sites to join – just good, honest use of StumbleUpon to the benefit of your website and the StumbleUpon community at large.

Each lesson is fairly long and most have a video associated with it, a couple have two videos. I would allow around 30-60 minutes for the study of the material itself in each lesson. However, studying alone will not drive a single visitor to your website. For you to get any value out of the course whatsoever you will also want to follow along with the action steps that I provide at the end of each one.

These vary in nature. One thing that I encourage you to do from day one is to spend some time stumbling every day and as the course develops I go into more and more detail about how to do that effectively. Some tasks will be more one-off and take more time but overall I would expect you to allow around 10-30 minutes a day for your stumbling activity plus perhaps a couple of hours per lesson to work on the content for your website.

How Are the Lessons Delivered?

When you first enroll on the course you will join the class for the basic lessons. These will be delivered every 3 days so with 10 free lessons, that part of the course will take 30 days to complete. You will be sent an email containing a link to the lesson so that you can read it online.

For those of you who choose to purchase the advanced lessons, which you can do at any time, you will be sent a link to download the entire 20-part course as one complete download containing all lessons and videos. Then you are free to work through this at your own pace and are not restricted to any schedule that I set.

How Much Will Traffic Rush Cost?

The basic lessons are completely free, and will probably remain free for the foreseable future. The standard price for the whole course including the advanced lessons will be $47. It irks me somewhat to use the now standard number 7 in my pricing but everybody tells me it works and I’m far too lazy to do my own testing so what the heck!

However, as this is my first ever paid product (and I don’t have a clue what I’m doing!) I’m going to run a launch discount. Those that purchase within the first week of the launch date will be able to buy the full course at just $27. After that you can still buy it but at the full price.

Will This Be Open To Affiliates?

Yes, but not right away. As I have not launched a paid product before I do not want to use affiliates as guinea pigs! Only after I am sure that everything works will I open it up to affiliates. I am hoping that this will be one week after launch but I might delay it slightly if I get any technical problems.

I indend to use eJunkie as my sales and affiliate management system. I have used them both as a consumer and as an affiliate for other people and have been happy from that point of view and they seem to offer everything that I need.

I will be offering a 50% commission rate to affiliates.

Will Traffic Rush Be Put On Clickbank?

No. Clickbank has an inherent problem in that when making a purchase, the link used contains the ID of the clickbank account to credit it with the commission. This ID is not encrypted in any way and as a result many unethical marketers will replace the ID with their own ID when purchasing a product. This is not a problem if you are selling something in many niche markets such as trout fishing because most trout fishermen are not Internet Marketers so they don’t have clickbank accounts.

However, as this is an Internet Marketeing product, it is quite possible that a large chunk of the target market would have Clickbank accounts and thus would be able to abuse it. This makes no difference to the product owner because they always get their cut – but it is the affiliate who suffers. The affiliate puts in the hard work of promoting the product to their own audience and then their commission is stolen by their own customers.

That is why I do not intend to put Traffic Rush on Clickbank. Perhaps I might put it on there at some point way into the future once the initial interest has died down but for the first six month at least I want to protect the interest of my affiliates.

Any Questions?

If there is anything you would like to know about the course, it’s content, technical details, StumbleUpon in general or whatever then please ask in the comments below. I’ll either respond in the comments or perhaps with a follow up post.

Hi Caroline! It’s great to see Stumble Rush is finally launched.
I’m one of your Easter Egg contest winners to win the SR course.

This 8 July I’m heading to Sydney for 3 weeks and will be without internet access. Am I still able to get the full course for both basic and advanced? Would I still be able to access the basic lessons if I open my mail in late July?

Thank you and great success to the Stumble Rush!

Hello,

I just when to sign up as an affiliate and eJunkie is very hard to figure out! It just shows categories and I don’t see a search, so I don’t know what category you are under and have no way to search for Stumble Rush to find all the affiliate info.

You might want to do a quick video to show exactly how to sign up as an affiliate so people don’t get frustrated and leave. I almost did, but I really want to see your product and offer it to my people!

Thanks,
Sterling

Hi Caroline,
I’ve been following this from the start and wish you the best of look with the whole launch and getting people signed up.

P.S. Have you ever thought of just 301′ing your homepage to the blog, it just links here anyway (and feed count is an image so it is lower) ;)

I’m looking forward to this and I’d like to promote this to my list sometime in the next month or so.

You nailed ClickBank to a T! That’s exactly how it works and affiliates get screwed. I’d like to get “AMD” over to PDC… the only thing is that it’s been on CB so long there are quite a few people promoting it there already.

Looking forward to the launch Caroline. I wish you luck with it. I never rush into stuff, so I’ll wait till I see some reviews and then I’ll drop some money on it.
SU isn’t too bad, but I’m always up for learning about other’s take on it.

Hi Caroline,

I just signed up for your free course. I am new to internet marketing and would really appreciate if you could tell me why clickbank is not safe for affiliates. I have recently launched an e-book and listed it on clickbank but I am kinda confused now.

1. Dearly Beloved Caroline:
2. Greetings and so lovely to read from you once again!
3. I have been looking forward to this and it is nice you will be coming out with it eventually.
4. e-Junkie is a nice service for your affiliate management system. I have used all kinds over the years and it all depends on the skills your affiliates have got to get the best results and I may also add that it does not even matter what you are selling as long as it will help people that need it, your affiliates can help connect the dots and make a nice picture out of it all. But with so many affiliation systems out there, follow your heart is the key.
5. Wishing you all the very best with the launch of StumbleRush on the 10th of July, 2008.
6. Remain blessed and a blessing and we will speak soon by the grace of God.
7. By the way, thank you for the newsletter you sent last, I enjoyed it and the tools you featured were some I have not stumbled across before. :-)
8. Thank you once again!
9. Regards,

:) I bet this is a really exciting time for you!

I’m assuming the bulk of the ‘creating’ work is over. Would you be working on another project, while marketing this one?

Perhaps we shall have to wait until after the 30DC. Best of luck with that!

@Louis, yes for purchasers of the full course (and any recipients of free copies) will be sent a link to a full download and what I want to do is not put any expiry on it but have a download limit. But I have the email addresses of all winners so I would probably just email the download directly to those people.

@Hunter, yeah it was getting to me a little that it was dragging on so much but the pace has picked up a lot in the last 4 weeks and its great to finally be so close to completion.

@Sterling, that’s a great idea! Obviously I’ll want to do everything I can to make life easy for affiliates!

@Glen, yeah I really need to sort out the redirect properly. I’ll have to ask somebody who is techie in that area as I really don’r know the correct way to do it.

@Bruce, oh thank you :-)

@Josh, once on Clickbank, can’t you also put it on another system too? Oh and its thanks to you that I knew about the Clickbank problem! I had no idea until I read about it on your blog.

@JB, good idea, I do exactly the same! I’ll be interested to see reviews of it hehe!

@Leon, the problem is when somebody who wants to buy a product from Clickbank is also a clickbank user themselves and then rather than buy through the affiliate link that they have been given, they ‘doctor’ the link to insert their own affiliate ID so they end up getting the commission back on the product so the real affiliate who went to the effort of promoting the product loses out on his commission. Hence why this is only really a problem if your product is in the Internet Marketing industry.

@Olakunle, oh that’s good to know that its being well received by others!

@Jade, just two more lessons to write now and yeah I’m very excited now. No, during the July I will be focusing exclusively on the marketing of this course and getting ready for the thirty day challenge which starts in August.

Oh I didn’t know about it, thanks for the great info Caroline. Does it apply to skin care and beauty related e-books? I am selling an e-book on Anti-aging Skin care recipes.

I got involved in SU with some result and then stopped stumbling because of my busy schedule. I am going to sign up to see what’s in the basic lesson.

I may purchase the advanced stuff if I think I can fit it into my schedule soon.

Hi Caroline,

I’ve been using SU for about a month. I read thru the eBook that you reviewed a while back (the one that got a so-so review). I thoroughly enjoy SU from a consumer point of view, and have had a bit of increased traffic to one of my blogs from SU. But I’m really looking forward to your release and have set a reminder in my calendar to get there in the first week for your discount offer. Thanks for that!

One suggestion here: When I look to add a comment on a blog, I scroll to the end of the post and it’s usually there. Yours is at the very top and is in plain type, not displaying as a link. I’d recommend displaying it as a link and perhaps also showing it under the post. You might be losing a comment here and there if people don’t immediately find it.

I just signed up for the free course, looking forward to the 10th!

Just so I have this right…the $27 (or $47) is for the WHOLE package….free and advanced in one?

Dennis Edells last blog post..Blogging Tip: Splitting Categories for Better Usability

@Stan, I’ll look into that but my theme was designed for me by somebody else and I’m not all that technical with that stuff so my skills are limited in that department.

@Dennis, yes that is correct.

Hi Caroline,

I look forward to seeing your product!

I sure hear you regarding cloaking affiliate products. There are several ways people can do this, both free and paid. Even with e-junkie or paydotcom or really, any affiliate link….they should always be cloaked. It just makes sense.

I’ve launched many a product in my time…drop me a line should you have any questions and I’ll be happy to answer.

Best wishes,

Barbara

Congratulations Caroline, I have a feeling that you will be very pleased with the results of StumbleRush.

“There are no tricks, no secrets, no underground programs, no dodgy little hacks, no exclusive membership sites to join” – Careful, you’ll be banned from The Internet Marketing Guild with talk like that ;-)

One thing I’ve observed is that your StumbleRush site lacks the same level of polish as this blog. I feel that undermines the perceived value of your content, especially for anyone arriving there without already knowing of you. I’m guessing that will be addressed after you’ve released the course.

I’ve got a question for your FAQ: “Is StumbleRush aimed at getting traffic for a particular type of site, such blogs or niche sites?” The reason I ask is that I am interested the course for building traffic to a software product site.

Looking forward to starting the course,

Derek.

Derek Pollards last blog post..ScreenRest 2.0.7 Released

@Derek, hehe thanks :) Yeah this blog was professionally designed for me so it looks very nice. I had the graphics done for me for the SR site but I’ve had to do the content myself and I don’t really know how to present it. I’ll do tweaking and testing later.

It’s aimed at any kind of site that produces content. A product site is unlikely to work unless you have some other content on there such as a blog, some articles etc. StumbleUpon can’t drive traffic without good content.

Caroline:
Nice to see you site into the top Alexa 100,000 now that you are launching your SU book. Hope it gets you extra publicity and does really well for you.
