Advertise Here in February and Get 10 Days Free

January 20, 2008 Posted under: Miscellaneous by Caroline Middlebrook

At the end of December I launched my new blog theme and opened up several advertising spots on the blog but I didn’t mention it again and those spots are still open. Seeing as January is two thirds through now, I may as well throw that in as a freebie for February instead.

So if you would like to advertise on my blog throughout the month of February, your ad can appear straight away and you will get whatever remains of January completely free of charge.

I think my prices are pretty competitive – $50 for a sidebar block and $70 for the top banner ad. I noticed my feed counter had gone over 1200 today and in addition to all of those regular readers, I am also seeing an average of over 1000 page views per day as well! If you would like more details I have some additional statistics on my advertising page.

So don’t be shy, get in touch with me to advertise in February and get the remainder of January free.

This is something I’ve always wondered (as an aspiring blogger who hopes to have a successul blog that will bring in some money): how critical are feed subscribers when considering visitor volume? As far as I can tell RSS feeds (at least for now) seem to be mostly ad-free so probably many of those subscribers don’t really even visit the site often.

Is there a shift in the works here where bloggers will begin to take advantage of RSS feeds for running ads? I know FeedBurner for example has some kind of feature they offer for this but, for whatever reason, at the moment I don’t see many blog feeds that have ads in them.

@OnlineSmarts, this is something I wondered about myself. My feedburner stats tell me that relatively few of my RSS subscribers click through to the site so yes the advertising on the blog front page is aimed more at the other kinds of traffic.

However I think RSS advertising is on its way. I have an email sitting in my in-tray from Bidvertiser which I intend to test out this week – it’s a new way of embedding ads in your feed. You can be sure that I’ll be blogging about it too :)
