AdSense Profit Tips - 12 Month Coaching Program Launches Today

February 27, 2008 Posted under: Making Money Online by Caroline Middlebrook

Google AdSense has to be one of the easiest way to get started making money online. It takes just minutes to setup an account and monetize a website. We know there is real money to be made - have a look at this famous image of ShoeMoney with his $132k AdSense check! However the sad fact is that the vast majority of people who sign up for AdSense never even make enough to reach the minimum payout!

The AdSense Coaching Program

As I mentioned in yesterday’s podcast, a brand new coaching program called AdSense Profit Tips launches today. This is a 12 month coaching program and is structured in a similar fashion to Yaro Starak’s Blog Mastermind. Lessons are delivered weekly and each lesson builds upon the last in a step-by-step fashion. To help keep you focused on results, each lesson has action steps for you to follow to ensure your success. Furthermore, most of the lessons have additional bonus materials such as video tutorials and PDF reports.

The program is provided by Codrut Turcanu and you may recognise his name from his previous coaching program, the $300 Affiliate Challenge. This launched a few months back and unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to work through it as I was going through a rough patch in my personal life at the time. However, I did watch most of the video tutorials and I really liked Codrut’s teaching style - he is very direct. There is no waffle and he shows you *exactly* what to do at every step.

What You Will Learn

Now you could just go read the sales page but let me condense things down a little bit for you! I have a bit of insider information as I’ve been chatting to Codrut about the course for a while now. Here are some of the highlights:

  • How you can get started and make money on day 1
  • Avoiding the most common AdSense mistakes
  • How to put your AdSense business on auto-pilot
  • Many ways for boosting your click through rate (CTR)
  • How to gain an advantage over 95% of your competitors
  • Viral traffic building techniques (that work for any site)

AdSense works by matching its ads with the content on your page. Different ads cost more to the advertiser and thus pay more to you therefore choice of niche is of utmost importance if you really want to maximise your earnings with AdSense. Codrut helps you out here by starting you off with 50 profitable niches to give you some ideas.

Codrut likes to make sure that anybody can follow along with his teachings so another thing that he does is provide templates for you to fill in whenever he is covering technical material so you won’t need to know any HTML or other techy stuff.

Codrut has also produced a comprehensive FAQ page which I found quite interesting.

How Much Does This Cost?

There are three levels of access with the basic one starting at $49.95 per month. I’ve copied the table from the sales page that shows each level and what is provided with each one:

The Affiliate Program

There is of course an affiliate program and this pays out 30% commissions. I would have preferred 50% but there you go :-) Note that the affiliate program is open to customers only. One of the nice things about promoting this kind of program is that it pays out recurring commissions for every month that a buyer stays in the program - just like Blog Mastermind.

In January I made $140 from Blog Mastermind when I hadn’t promoted it that month (it closed to new members in December) - I had totally forgotten that the commissions are recurring. Membership sites / courses are definitely worth promoting as an affiliate.

My Niche Site Project

As well as being great for affiliates, membership sites or structured courses are great for customers too because they take you through a process step-by-step showing you exactly what to do along the way. I get distracted so easily that I love the structure that comes from these things. I’m now a member of 4! Here is how I intend to use my AdSense Profit Tips membership:

One of the new projects that I am going to start will be a niche site project. AdSense can be applied to just about any site but I have never felt that it would be a good fit for this blog so I’d like to create at least one niche site that is primarily monetized with AdSense.

As well as Codrut’s AdSense coaching program, I have also joined one from Dr Mani called Fast Niche Profits, which as I suspected is now closed to new members. So my plan is to use Dr Mani’s information to help me build some good niche sites and Codrut’s information to help me make the most of the monetization aspect. I’ll be launching the project in a week or two once I’ve got started with the material in both programs.

It seems like you really believe in these coaching programs. It is going to have to work pretty well to make the revenue to cover the costs of doing both those coaching programs! Unless you plan on making 100 $30 sites.

I wish I could afford even the silver one, this sounds great, but for now looks like I’m relying on the free info till I can get something going for extra cash.

Of course one never knows the value of a program like this until you get into it, but frankly, I don’t see alot of value added to what is easily available for free. And the biggest stumbling block to any of these coaching programs is finding the time to really work them … you seem very organized, so I certainly hope you cna get value from two at a time … i certainly would just flounder, I fear.

Just my 2 cents that 12 months is a long time to be coached on Adsense? but wish you a fruitful learning experience. I have also joined a group in Malaysia to learn about internet marketing (internet millionaires club Malaysia) and paying USD12.90 a month as a Silver Member. The subjects covered are of variety though.

The pricing seems kind of steep, but I guess everyone needs to make money.

Good on you, these programs can be good because they will keep you focussed and on track over the 12 months.

I’ll look forward to your review. Personally, I’ve been burned too many times by programs promising to reveal “secrets.” I won’t buy anything if I can’t find reviews by honest bloggers, which of course, you are.

Keep us posted.

@Tom, I have an advantage there in that I can also earn revenue as an affiliate which offsets the cost of the course itself. However, what this course promises is that it can take the AdSense revenue to the next level, so I’m hoping that I won’t have to build 100 $30 sites and can instead build one site that earns a lot more.

@Kenda, a year seems like a long time but broken down into weekly lessons thats 52 things. To be honest I currently know very little about AdSense so I don’t know how much there is to say about it. But I’m sure Codrut must have all his content planned out in advance or he would lose customers because of course you can cancel at any time.

@Steve, yeah that’s what I’m hoping with all 4 membership sites I now belong to!

@Rick, yup I plan to discuss how the course is going periodically as I work through it.

dang it, why do these things have to cost so much?

@Lexi, cost is relative. No matter what the price, there will be some people who feel it is too high and others who feel it is cheaply priced. It’s all about your own circumstances and your perception of the value that it offers.

Hi Caroline

I have been on your blog for very long but I read this post and some of the replies and my heart goes out to you.

These membership sites are the current fad for folks determined to empty your wallet. Sorry if that sounds harsh but they are.

There are certain tricks that work for a time, e-books, seminars, coaching programs…..you probably saw them all. The current one is memberships sites.

These guys are ruthless, dishonest and mercenary. You are their target and the despise you. They see would be marketers as fish in a barrel and they all invite their bunch of buddies around to shoot all the fish they can get.

You see, “Honesty and Sincerity”

Once you can fake these you have got it made.

A bit of Photoshop on results pages doesn’t go amiss either!

I would suggest that you try and go cold turkey on paid help for a while and see how much you can learn from folks who don’t take your money.

Copy writing, join Michael Fortins e-mail list or forum.

PPC Perry Marshall’s free e-mail starter.

SEO Planet Ocean or Marketing Sherpa e-mail list ( Marketing Sherpa give you free access to major research for a month before it goes paid at several hundred bucks)

SEO2020.com all sorts of stuff.

You are using a major piece of free stuff, WORDPRESS. Lear about some others like Joomla and teach yourself to build multiple big sites on which you can then hang sources of revenue.

Read the classic marketing books recommended by Ken McCarty of TheSystemSeminar fame they should cost 5-10 bucks on Amazon.

And the biggest recommendation I can possibly give you is read the sales letters by these guys and then throw away the product because they will have put more effort into that one page sales letter than they will the product. Cross out the name of their product and replace it with your own and tidy it up a bit Voila! You will get ALL the benefit at none of the cost.

There are no words to express just how cynical IM hype is.

None.

PM me if you want a peek at any stuff that I may have about different topics, you are welcome to share at no cost.

regards

@Nitmix, while there certainly are ruthless marketers out there I don’t think it is fair for you to judge when you have no experience of the program being offered. Codrut was kind enough to offer me a free place in the program and he knows full well that I will be following along and blogging about it as I go. If the coaching program turns out to be rubbish then I’ll make that known and he knows that.

I have already spent a lot of time learning from free information and you know what - there’s just as much crap out there, more in fact! There is so much of it. At least when I pay for something it is concentrated information - I don’t have to filter out all the extra noise. So far I am very happy with the paid programs that I pay for, and I’ll judge this one when I am working through it.

Hey Caroline, I am guessing you are probably Uk based being online at the same time as me. You are 100% right about the levels of crap in both the paid and unpaid sectors and also no, it isn’t “fair” to pre-judge another program. But business isn’t fair, it is ruthless nasty and exploitative. That is the cautionary point I was making.

I like the sound of your deal with Codrut, that is a good place to make a judgement from.

I had actually posted somewhere else on your blog about some basics of slpit testing which is relevant to this one too. Doing
well at Adsense is a matter of test, test, and test again! May even be able to rustle up a pdf on that one.

I wish you all the luck and success in the world and I know where you are now believe me! I started back in 1997 when it took me 3 days to figure out how to find an ftp program! I have bought stuff that was great and even more stuff that is sitting on hard drives gathering dust. It seemed like the only way to learn at the time.

I have made money from ppc, adsense, affiliates and selling my own stuff. I have about 50 sites up and over a million pages in google and the scars to show for it and I have never made a penny out of selling know-how to anyone, I guess it just jabs my protective streak when I see someone in the same place I started way back! Perhaps you can get a dialogue going amongst your readers to share what really has worked for them in terms of courses or mentorships? Folks can be very generous with their experiences.

@Nitmix, Yes I am in the UK. I imagine everyone in this game is going to get burned to some degree by buying products that don’t live up to their promise but I don’t think that will ever change - it’s just a fact of life in business, online or offline.
