Indeed, there are a lot of ways to earn money online. Some would go for e-commerce, and like what you said article marketing, niche marketing and the likes. However, I also think that by far blogging is the best especially when you have your own domain since you can gain a lot of traffic and maximized revenue. It doesn’t appear to me that you are planning too much – it appears that you are building a strategy that you can work and then measure and then modify as you get more data and experience. I think it’s an excellent way to approach your budding online business.

@Sophie, you’ve made $0.09 more than me so well done! heh, I am still working through these ideas, I haven’t made them profitable yet.

With regards to your linking question, unless each individual blog gets traffic already, you wont get more out of thin air by linking them. What you will do is create backlinks for them which can increase their authority in Google which can lead to more search engine traffic. Very useful information. I like the idea of combining different method and I wish I could make $100 a day too!
I started out with an affiliate website and I am trying to make it excellent quality (freebies and all that) but after discovering what article marketing can do for traffic, I decided to also write articles for money (so far I’ve made $0.09!) and promote them through my blog.
By the way, I found this site from someone on Facebook who sent me your link. Now I can see what Facebook can do for you.
One question I’ve been asking myself: If I create 100 blogs and link them to each other, will I get some traffic? (This almost sounds like a joke but it is not, I am that desperate!)

@Gaida, Ahh I see. I can see that working well if you have a product-centered site to promote.

@Steven, Nope so far I have made $0 and I have already spent a little on domains, an ebook, Immediate Edge membership so I don’t want to spend money on traffic when I can get it free.

Plus, PPC is not easy these days. I used to spend about $1000 a month back when I got the majority of my clicks for just 1cent. Nowadays most are around 11 cents, not for me just yet :-)

No mention of PPC for traffic generation? Some say it is the best way of rapidly testing an idea. Personally, I’ve found that it can get expensive quite quickly.

Amazon – write reviews for Amazon products.

The 30DC Challenge had so much information to share….now all we need is ACTION to reap the rewards.
Even though the challenge has finished the information has been left online… so check it out for those who haven’t seen it yet.

@Maki, hmm I guess you’re right. Perhaps the problem is that with a couple of the niches I chose, I really struggled with the content so I couldn’t see how I could possibly create something even remotely good enough for social media.

Either I should stick to niches I am comfortable with, or just start practicing and build some skills & confidence.

@Suzanne, it’s never too late :) All the training materials are staying up at the 30DC so you can start any time. Welcome to my little blog!

To answer your second question… I had three niches, and I had created two pages in each. To start over, I am using a different method to drive traffic but I am using one of my original three niches as it’s one I feel I can write a lot of articles for. So no, I am not starting over from scratch in that sense – I’ve done all my keyword research, I’ve got a lot of content ready to go. Just needs turning into articles.

However I do need to build a niche site for this. I setup the domain yesterday.

Any niche can work with linkbait.. which is actually fairly easy to create once you’re used to it. Content isn’t everything though.. ever wonder why crap gets on the Digg frontpage?

Networks or a strong social media user are usually behind the distribution process. And both of them are factors you can control.

@Maki, In order to have an effective social media campaign, you really do need top notch content. The site that I am likely to produce for this niche probably wont be good enough to survive social media.

@Mike, but on the flipside, all doing and no reading can cause you to get stuck in a rut and never learn anything new! The key is to do both in appropriate quantities.

@Barbra, Yup, the guy who started it off said he could take any bum off the street, take him to a computer and get him earning in a month with this method.

I’ve never understood the fascination that internet marketers have for article marketing. Yes, I’m sure you can rank or get referral traffic for your landing page over time and effort.

But its nowhere as effective as linkbaiting through social media for backlinks and then pumping out blog posts that rank instantly for competitive keywords and then building a list through the blog or monetizing through affiliate links.

I recently launched a social media campaign (through Digg/Reddit/del.icio.us) for one of my sites and brought in over 4,000 quality links in 2 weeks. The result? A site that comes out ranking and converting with targeted search traffic that pays. :)

Thats a good plan Caroline, but remember to take more action than planning and reading <= I think thats REALLY important.

I especially like Blogging, Youtube, Bum Marketing, and Niche Marketing most :-)
